Hoto-ji (Gokuraku-ji) Temple, Kyoto

In Murasaki Shikibu's day, Gokuraku-ji was a funerary temple for the senior Fujiwara nobility. In the Wistera Leaves chapter of The Tale of Genji, To no Chujo, Yugiri and Genji travel to Gokuraku-ji for the anniversary of Princess Omiya's death.
