Located immediately south of Nijo Castle, Shinsen-en is all that's left of the pre-1331 Kyoto Imperial Palace grounds. In The Great Mirror, the narrator recounts how he once watched Retired Emperor Enyu's procession from the northwest corner of Shinsen-en garden. |
