Joko-ji Temple, Kyoto

Jokoji is a small temple, also known as Zuiho-zan, that is the 22nd stop on the Rakuyo Pilgrimage in Kyoto.

It is said that the temple grounds used to house the residence of the regent Fujiwara Nobunaga, but after becoming the posession of Fujiwara Tadazane, Chief Advisor to the cloistered Chisoku-in, the residence was converted into a temple in the first year of Eikyu (1113).
