Hashihime Shrine, Uji

Situated not far from Uji Bridge in Kyoto Prefecture, Hashihime Shrine is dedicated to the guardian deity of the bridge, whose name is used as one of the chapter titles in The Tale of Genji.

The original shrine on the west bank of the Uji River was washed away by flood waters in 1870.
